What to Expect During the First Appointment

The first visit, for Oriental Medicine, typically lasts between an hour and an hour and a half.  The initial appointment starts with a conversation to go over your child’s health history and answer any questions you have.  During the discussion, observation of your child occurs to get a feel for their personality and comfort level.  If deemed necessary, a physical exam is performed to gather more information.  Next, we review the different treatment options available and decide which ones are the best match for your child.  The treatment itself is short, and time is allocated afterward for any questions.  Following the treatment, any herbal or supplement prescriptions, lifestyle recommendations, and home care suggestions are presented.  The last part of the appointment involves reviewing everything that occurred during the encounter to ensure that all questions get answered and all instructions are understood.
